Krystina Borrocci, 31, Director of Marketing at UHY LLP was honored in front of a crowd of her peers, alumni and donors of Wayne State University’s Mike Ilitch School of Business. It was at the school’s 36th Annual Recognition & Awards Program where she was awarded as the 2016 Emerging Leader along with two other honorees who received Executive of the Year (Nancy Schlichting) and Distinguished Alumnus (Mark Davidoff). Borrocci is the youngest alumnus to ever win this award.

The Emerging Leader award is given to an alumnus who has distinguished his or herself as a rising star in their industry or community and shows great promise for the future. Borrocci, a 2007 Wayne State graduate was hired by UHY LLP in 2008 and received her M.B.A. from Wayne State in 2010. Her climb to director is one of the fastest in the company’s history as she's the youngest employee at UHY to hold a director title. Borrocci also serves as a reserve officer for the Macomb County Sheriff Office’s MACE Unit and chair of the external relations committee at Turning Point, a Macomb nonprofit that provides shelter, programs and resources to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

When asked about her path to success Borrocci replied: “Success comes to those who give consistent effort. Many say ‘follow your passion’, but I don’t, I say ‘follow your effort’. Start small. Set achievable goals. There’s a lot to gain from putting in the time and work each and every day. It gives you an edge above others, the confidence to take risks, and the ability to lead.”
