Between the last three quarters of 2014 and first quarter of 2015, UHY LLP's Michigan practice added 89 employees to their team. The Michigan offices were excited to welcome their biggest hiring class of interns and staff accountants yet, on Wednesday, January 7.
"We knew this was going to be a competitive year on campus from some of the data we gathered," said Daniel Markey, managing partner of the Sterling Heights office. As I was recruiting at Walsh College this past fall, if there was a student I interviewed that was a good fit for UHY, I extended the offer right then and there. We knew we needed to get more creative in our recruitment efforts this year and not waste time when we met top talent at the schools."
"This year, campus recruiting was the most competitive I have seen among all firms. It's important for UHY to continue to build our brand on campus, while recruiting top talent to help grow our firm. Our partners took lead roles on campus again this year by interviewing and even extending offers at the campus level," said recruiting manager, Rina Henning. "Additionally, many partners took on panel roles and participated in presentations. Our staff did an outstanding job helping to identify recruits to add to our teams. Without the support of everyone, we would not have been able to hire our largest class of recruits."

IT Senior Support Specialist
Tony joined the firm (formerly known as Follmer Rudzewicz & Company) in 1974 as a junior accountant. He is now the firm's national chairman and CEO. In 2000, his leadership skills were crucial in the merger of Follmer Rudzewicz and six other national accounting firms to establish what is now UHY Advisors, Inc. Tony believes in giving back to the community and is a strong supporter of Detroit and its surrounding communities. His personal contributions and community involvement holds a strong significance in his life. Tony earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Wayne State University and is a licensed CPA in the state of Michigan.
When joining the firm in 1989, Pat started in the tax department and was a leader there for 11 years. Since then she has transitioned over to providing accounting, auditing and business consulting services to closely-held, middle market companies. Pat earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Lawrence Tech University and is a licensed CPA in the state of Michigan. She is a member of the Livonia Chamber of Commerce.
Casandra started with the company in 1989 as a bookkeeper. Back in the Follmer Rudzewicz days, all new staff accountants got assigned a bookkeeping account and were trained by Casandra. She is currently a CSA (client service associate) and she supervises the CSA group.
Since starting as a full time bookkeeper back in January 1989, Kristin has been promoted to client service associate. She has an accounting degree from Lawrence Tech University.
Margaret began her career with UHY in 1989 as an office clerk. She became a bookkeeper in 1995 and then joined the network support systems group in 1998 and has been with IT ever since. Anyone who has worked with Margaret knows and loves her for her quirky sense of humor!
